Private Viewing Friday, 30th September

This is the time to visit our exhibitions. If you're lucky, you will get some wine and a cracker. But it isn't the free hooch that should draw you, it is the chance to meet the makers. During the rest of the show you will be lucky to find more than three or four in attendance, and on weekdays probably only two. Moreover, the private viewing attracts many of our clients, so there is a chance to hear gushing praise and unbridled enthusiasm for our work and the whole collaboration-commission process.
Next year may see the initiation of the artistic patron programme. A few of our exhibitors already offer a scheme whereby previous customers are given the chance to act as Artistic Patrons. The Patron offers to underwrite one or more of the pieces on show. In other words, if the piece does not sell during the exhibition, they will buy it. This is not merely a magnanomous gesture, for the underwritten price is usually less than the full show price. So the Patron wins as well. However, we don't want the scheme to be misused as a way of buying our creations on the cheap, so your offer of becoming a Patron should be made either before the show or on the evening of the private viewing. photopraph of crowds at the private viewing of an SFMA exhibition
